After the Navy Yard, Sherrie sought out others struggling to make sense of mass shooting trauma. Online, she found support in survivors of the tragedies in Columbine, Virginia Tech, Aurora and Newtown. In 2014, she joined The Rebels Project (TRP), a project developed by Columbine survivors who embrace, support, and connect survivors of mass tragedy and trauma by creating a safe environment to share unique resources, experiences, and provide education surrounding the varying effects of mass trauma. Sherrie now serves as Director of Development for the organization and works toward changing attitudes about the mental health of mass shooting survivors.
